    Please go to this link and read the material in detail.

    It is outrageous that a million Romanian horses are at risk of going to slaughter and tens of thousands of rural Romanians are at risk of losing their traditional non-polluting lifestyles because of over-zealous and heavy-handed bureaucracy.

    You can do something about it. Send the letters asked for on the web page. Please!

    i think the Romanian governmnet should make sure cart horses are eased out gently and voluntarily and humanely eg. move them off main roads but allow on minor ones - don't just BAN them totally.As Romania gets more prosperous, cart horses won't be bred anymore - meantime government should enable people to care for ones they've got. But maybe they are just going for the gypsies?
