    Matthew Wright given 23-day suspension by British Eventing

    Top event rider Matthew Wright has been suspended from competition for running an unregistered horse last October.

    At a British Eventing (BE) disciplinary hearing on 1 February Matthew was dealt a 23-day ban for infringing rules 3ai, 8b, 28b and 31. While some of the infringements deal with late/substitution entries and disgraceful conduct, the main breach (rule 8b), applied because Matthew ran an unregistered horse last year.

    The suspension puts him out of the start of the eventing season, beginning this weekend.

    Never heard of Matthew Wright, but think there should be ZERO tolerance for anyone breaking any rules like this. It's really hard for the eventing/showjumping/dressage disciplines to run their rule book - in fact it depends on everyuone deciding to stick by them.

    ave they not put that he registered thehorse but the registration came through the following tuesday?

    You are right! looks like this story comes straight from Horse & Hound. And if Matthew Wright ran the horse HC and told the stewards before, plus reg was received couple of days after, think ban bit harsh - bet worse things happen which ignored. Anyway, nice pic of Matthew in H&H, and story does put eveone on toes.

    google him hes a top event rider and has a brillaint style of riding.
