i was just wondering why when ever you go to a lower level or local dressage comp you have your prelim novice and maybe elementry test and for some reason the people who are riding horses obviosly trained to novice standard are competing in both prelim and novice test.

surely if your horse is of novice standard ride HC in the prelim and give the true youngsters or green horses a chance.

no problem warming your horse up in the prelim test and getting your feed back sheet from the judge but i dont think you should be allowed to be competetive. in BD when you get better you move up the tests why not at local level.

i totally agree with this. Im starting prelims this year with my horse, who is well schooled but has not alot of experience in dressage. I think people who can do test like novice and intermidiate like at my RC they should let people who are new at least have a chance.
It is a great idea that they get to enter but non-competively too.
At least some people inderstand where im coming from when i say stuff like that.
I also find it happens when i do show jumping, i am in the 2"0 and 2"3 classes and i get all the horses from the 3"0 classes just using it as a warm up and not giving horses that are new to sj etc a fighting chance.

yes thats chase me charlie, thats one jump not a whole course. The two phase event was 2ft. Them percentages are on walk and trot tests last year. Im on prelims now and thats were you get the horses that do novice tests and intermidaite just to warm up.
I didn't ask for abuse, its only 2ft. jees.
Also at 24 maybe you shouldnt be sending nasty bulletins to 16 year olds and grow up a bit.

yes okay you want mixed abilities but when prelims only have walk trot canter and some more advanced turns etc. Novice and Intermediate have half passing etc. Maybe they should use a warm up dressage arena instead of using easier tests. Mixed abilities are good but as long as they go in one class and not just for a warm up.
Im only just 16 therefore technically still a child. Im proud of how well ive taught my horse and what ive achieved in two years, im sorry if that "irrates" somepeople that im happy about achieving quite well, but it most certainly doesnt irrate me.

arhhh sorry for starting this topic haha causing a bit of tension oppss!

i think its really good that jodie started in walk trot tests as some people rush into premlims and novice tests, and also good that once she has done well in those tests she has now moved on to prelim. hope you do well this season.

i also dont understand why some people think that if you ride one good test you must move up.....for example if u beat someone , the next time out they exspect u not to be in your class. i think when you have a consistant run of good test and the horse is schooled well enough in the movements to move up then do so but dont be in a rush to. at the end of the day its the riders choice when they move up.
