Barrel Racing: A SpaceForHorses network
Barrel racing is a fast and skilful timed rodeo event. Believed to have originated in Texas it grew up as predominately a women's event but is now immensely popular amongst all comers. In barrel racing usually three barrels are set up in an arena and competitors seek to round each in a set clover leaf pattern racing against the clock. Speed, althleticism, and agility are critical. Penalty points are levied for each barrel knocked over. The National Barrel Horse Association sets out a framework of governance covering distances and layouts etc.
