Space For Horses

Jasper is my new horse from 2nd October 08.

We brought him over from Ireland and he's come on so so much in such a short time. He was a bony wreck when he came off the wagon, now he's happy, fit, healthy, and getting a bit of weight on. He's also feeling a lot better in himself and he does have his moments, quite bad at times but that should be sorted eventually.

He is a 16.3hh roany sort of dapple colour sports horse gelding, Warmblood X Irish Sports Horse.

He's got a really nice nature and a huge jump. He jumps 3'9 single spreads at home (He's only 6), but he just doesn't know what to do on a course.

So my main aim of this winter is to have him jumping at least 2'6 courses consistently. I don't think this is a lot to expect from a horse which is easy capable of much more, easily BSJA, with training, practice and experience =] From then, if I decide he's here to stay and is the best horse I can possibly have, then I will hopfully work my way up the BSJA levels, and have a very good horse =] I don't see why not if he puts his nice head on.

He does need to stop his silly stubborn rearing and "I'm tired so I've finished work now" attitude though. Hopefully it's his 'baby' attitude, which should wear off !

When I have got to jumping a 2'6 course at a reasonable standard, then I'll make a vid on youtube and include the disasturous first time we attempted a course. Hopefully it'll be a very good video showing how much he'll of come on over this winter. Although in the 6 weeks he's been here, it feels like forever, I have gone from completely hating him, to completely loving him, and seeing how good he might turn out, and from riding the unbalanced, thin, unschooled, bony wreck to loving him and riding him in a nice outline, maybe some more schooling needed but god has he come on!!
